Cuttack: In response to the potential risk of children getting separated from their parents in the crowded Bali Jatra ground in Cuttack, the Commissionerate Police have implemented a proactive measure. A system has been introduced wherein specially-designed paper cards containing the phone numbers of parents/ guardians are placed in the pockets of children.

Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra explained, “Our personnel are actively patrolling the grounds, identifying children with their parents or family members. Using a custom-made missing child tracking card, our officers write down the names and phone numbers of the parents, placing the cards in the children’s pockets.”

The purpose of these cards is to facilitate swift contact with parents in case children get separated from them in the crowded environment.

Mishra added, “While we will continue to use the public address system to reunite missing or separated children with their families, the introduction of this paper card system enhances effectiveness and ensures a rapid reunion between missing children and their parents.”

Another police officer said, “We often find children crying alone and promptly rescue them. By using the information on the paper cards, our personnel can quickly contact the parents. We hope that public awareness of this initiative will encourage people to assist in reuniting children with their families.”
