Israel: Israel\u2019s military said it intercepted a rocket launched from Gaza early on Friday that set off air raid sirens in Israeli communities as a 7 a.m. (0500 GMT) deadline to extend a pause in fighting with Hamas neared.<\/span><\/p>\n There was no immediate comment from the Palestinian militant group about the occurence, which Israel\u2019s Kan public broadcaster described as the first since an Israel-Hamas truce started on Nov. 24.<\/p>\n Media affiliated to Hamas said explosions and gunfire could be head in the northern part of the Gaza Strip ahead of the truce deadline. No other details were immediately available.<\/p>\n After two last-minute extensions, the enemies marked the seventh day of a Qatari-mediated truce on Thursday with the exchange of eight hostages and 30 Palestinian prisoners as well as the infusion of more humanitarian aid into the shattered Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n The Wall Street Journal, citing Egyptian officials, said earlier on Friday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to extend the truce for an eighth day in a deal that will involve the release of more Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
