Mumbai: Tamil megastar Rajinikanth, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film \u2018Lal Salaam\u2019, has defended his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who objected to her father being called \u201cSanghi.\u201d<\/p>\n
The megastar said that his daughter didn\u2019t use the word \u2018Sanghi\u2019 in a wrong sense. He said that Aishwarya never said that Sanghi is a bad word.<\/p>\n
The actor told the media: \u201cMy daughter never said that Sanghi [the term] was a bad word. She questioned why her father was being branded that way when he is into spirituality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, speaking at the audio launch of \u2018Lal Salaam\u2019 in Chennai, Aishwarya had said: \u201cI generally stay away from social media, but my team often tells me what\u2019s happening and keep showing some posts. I used to get angry seeing them. We\u2019re human beings too. In recent times, many people call my father a Sanghi.\u201d<\/p>\n
She further mentioned: \u201cI didn\u2019t know what it meant. I then asked someone what the meaning of Sanghi was, and they said that people who support a particular political party are called Sanghi. I\u2019d like to make it clear here, Rajinikanth is not a Sanghi. If he was, he wouldn\u2019t have done a film like \u2018Lal Salaam\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rajinikanth, who was last seen in the blockbuster film \u2018Jailer\u2019, will have an extended cameo in \u2018Lal Salaam\u2019.<\/p>\n
