Sambalpur:<\/strong> A woman was found dead with her body half-burnt under mysterious circumstances near a dyke of Hirakud Dam at Balbaspur locality under Sasan police limits in Sambalpur district.<\/p>\n The identity of the deceased woman has not been ascertained yet, a senior cop expressed.<\/p>\n \u201cThe woman was perhaps killed and was later burnt to destroy the evidence,\u201d some locals suspected.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, who murdered the woman and then set her on fire is not known,\u201d the locals added.<\/p>\n On being informed by the locals, a team of Sasan police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe into the suspicious death.<\/p>\n \u201cSome locals spotted the woman\u2019s body while lying half-burnt at around 9.30 AM today. It appears that the woman was around 30 to 35 years of age. A detailed probe is underway and the service of a dog squad has been sought,\u201d local SDPO Toofan Bagh stated.<\/p>\n \u201cThe body of the deceased woman will be sent for post-mortem. The exact reason behind the death can be confirmed only after a report comes in,\u201d the SDPO said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
