He won the Assembly polls twice on the BJD ticket in 2009 and 2019. He was allotted the Skill Development and Technical Education portfolio in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik\u2019s cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, rebel BJD leader Rajendra Das had won the Assembly polls from Dhamnagar on a BJD ticket in 2009. After the party denied him a ticket in 2019 polls, he contested as an independent candidate posing a threat to the BJD.
