{"id":23984,"date":"2024-03-24T14:13:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-24T14:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/24\/international-astronomical-union-approves-chandrayaan-3-landing-site-name-shiva-shakti-n-f-times\/"},"modified":"2024-03-24T14:13:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-24T14:13:10","slug":"international-astronomical-union-approves-chandrayaan-3-landing-site-name-shiva-shakti-n-f-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/24\/international-astronomical-union-approves-chandrayaan-3-landing-site-name-shiva-shakti-n-f-times\/","title":{"rendered":"International Astronomical Union approves Chandrayaan-3 landing site name \u2018Shiva Shakti\u2019 &#8211; N.F Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Bengaluru: The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has approved the Chandrayaan-3 landing site name \u2018Shiva Shakti\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The approval came on March 19 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s announcement following the success of the mission on August 26, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIAU working group for Planetary System Nomenclature has approved the name station \u2018Shiv Shakti\u2019 for the landing site of Chandrayaan-3\u2019s Vikram lander,\u201d the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature, which provides detailed information about planetary names by IAU said.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement defined the origin of the name as, a \u201ccompound word from Indian mythology that depicts masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) duality of nature; Landing site of Chandrayaan-3\u2019s Vikram Lander.<\/p>\n<p>On August 28, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at ISRO announced that the landing point of the Chandrayaan-3 Mission would be known as \u201cShiv Shakti Point\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While the Chandrayaan-2 landing failure spot will be called \u201cTiranga point\u201d, the day of the touchdown of the Vikram Lander on the Moon (August 23) will be celebrated as \u201cNational Space Day\u201d in the country, PM Modi had stated.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Modi made the announcements while addressing the gathering of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) at the ISRO Command Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndia has decided to name the touchdown point where Vikram Lander made a soft landing on the Moon as \u201cShiv Shakti Point\u201d.
