Gajapati<\/strong>: The Special Judge, Berhampur, sentenced a former Village Education Committee President to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.<\/p>\n The accused has been identified as Dukha Mandal, Ex-President, of the Village Education Committee, Baghasingsahi Primary School under R.Udayagiri police station in Gajapati district.<\/p>\n Mandal was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988\/409\/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of Govt. money meant for the construction of a new primary school building at Baghasingsahi in the district of Gajapati.<\/p>\n Mandal was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of the fine to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months more for the offence U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988.<\/p>\n The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 1 month more for the offence U\/s 409 IPC.
