{"id":34170,"date":"2024-07-10T10:36:51","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T10:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/10\/jaishankar-to-host-bimstec-counterparts-for-retreat-in-delhi-n-f-times\/"},"modified":"2024-07-10T10:36:54","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T10:36:54","slug":"jaishankar-to-host-bimstec-counterparts-for-retreat-in-delhi-n-f-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/10\/jaishankar-to-host-bimstec-counterparts-for-retreat-in-delhi-n-f-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaishankar To Host BIMSTEC Counterparts For Retreat In Delhi &#8211; N.F Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will host his counterparts for the second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers\u2019 Retreat in New Delhi on July 11-12.<\/p>\n<p>The retreat will provide an opportunity for the foreign ministers of BIMSTEC nations to discuss avenues to broaden and deepen cooperation in various sectors, including security, connectivity, trade and investment, and people-to-people contacts in the Bay of Bengal region and its littoral, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release said.<\/p>\n<p>The first edition of the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers\u2019 Retreat was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 17 last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) brings together seven countries of South and Southeast Asia for multifaceted cooperation: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Bhutan\u2019s Foreign Minister DN Dhungyel and Myanmar\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister U Than Swe arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to attend the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers\u2019 Retreat.<\/p>\n<p>MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Dhungyel\u2019s visit will further strengthen the close bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Bhutan.<\/p>\n<p>For India, the BIMSTEC regional forum acts as a convergence of its \u201cneighbourhood first\u201d policy, \u201cact East\u201d outlook, and the interests of the Indian ocean.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>[ad_2]<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will host his counterparts for the second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers\u2019 Retreat in New Delhi on July 11-12.
