Ottawa<\/strong>: The assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump should be a \u201cstark reminder\u201d for politicians to condemn Khalistan supporters, Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya said in a post on X, seen to be directed at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Trudeau government has been accused of going soft on the Sikh radicals in the country.<\/p>\n A 20-year-old gunman fired multiple shots at Trump, 78, at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, injuring his right ear.<\/p>\n Arya also referred to a float by Khalistani radicals showing the assassination of the former Indian Prime Minister in June this year.<\/p>\n In April, pro-Khalistan slogans were raised in the presence of the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as he addressed a gathering of Sikhs on Khalsa Day. The incident took place amid a sharp rise in anti-India sentiment in Canada in recent times.<\/p>\n Canadian politicians should stop attending events organised by Khalistan supporters and call out the Sikh radicals who target Hindu Canadians, he said.<\/p>\n A member of the House of Commons, Arya has, on several occasions, lent support to Hindu Canadians after Canada-based Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpant Singh Pannu called \u201cIndo Hindus Leave Canada\u201d.<\/p>\n The Canadian MP called upon Hindu Canadians to \u201cstay calm but vigilant\u201d amid a diplomatic faceoff between India and Canada over the death of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t understand how glorification of terrorism or a hate crime targeting a religious group is allowed in the name of freedom of speech and expression.<\/p>\n There would be an outrage in Canada if a white supremacist attacked any group of racialized Canadians asking them to get out of our country.<\/p>\n But apparently, this Khalistani leader can get away with this hate crime,\u201d he said in a post on x in September last year.<\/p>\n India and Canada have been witnessing strained relations after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi of having a role in the murder of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18.<\/p>\n India has rejected the allegations as \u201cabsurd and motivated\u201d. \u201cSuch unsubstantiated\u201d allegations seek to shift the focus from Khalistani terrorists and extremists, who have been provided \u201cshelter in Canada and continue to threaten India\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity,\u201d the ministry of external affairs said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n [ad_2] [ad_1] Ottawa: The assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump should be a \u201cstark reminder\u201d for politicians to condemn Khalistan supporters, Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya said in a post on X, seen to be directed at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
