Ollywood actor Pintu Nanda breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a Hyderabad-based hospital at 11.25 pm on Wednesday. He was 47. Suffering from liver cirrhosis, the actor was admitted to a Bhubaneswar-based hospital on February 1. On February 7, he was flown to New Delhi and was admitted to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS). Meanwhile, a family member was supposed to donate liver to him. But that couldn\u2019t be materialised due to mismatching of blood groups and other reasons.
\nAs per the rules, one can\u2019t get organs from a living person. Organs can only be harvested from a dead person. So he had been shifted to Hyderabad\u2019s Yoshada Hospital. His demise has left his fans and the entire Odia entertainment industry in shock. While Social media is flooded with condolence messages, veterans from the cine industry expressed grief at the passing of the actor.
\nOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to his Twitter handle to express his grief over the death of actor Pintu Nanda and said, \u201cDeeply shocked to hear about the demise of Odia film industry\u2019s popular actor Pintu Nanda. \nBharatiya Janata Party Vice President Baijayant Panda took to his Twitter handle to condole the death of actor Pintu Nanda. \u201cDeeply shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely demise of Odisha\u2019s popular actor Pintu Nanda. He will be remembered for ages for his contribution to the Odia film industry. His death is an irreparable loss to the Odia film industry. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. \nChhattisgarh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan took to his Twitter handle to mourn the death of Odia actor Pintu Nanda.In a series of Odia tweets, he said he was deeply shocked to hear about the untimely death of Pintu Nanda. The Governor has prayed to God to rest his soul in peace and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
\n\u201cThe actor\u2019s body will reach Bhubaneswar today evening. His last rites will most probably be performed tomorrow at Swargadwara in Puri,\u201d said Sritam Das, General Secretary of Cine Artistes Association. \u201cAt first we couldn\u2019t believe the news. We were hopeful that he would return and entertain all of us again. He was one of the most talented actors. All I can say is we have lost a good actor,\u201d said actress Usasi Mishra.
\nExpressing his grief, senior actor Ashrumochan Mohanty said, \u201cI have no words to express my feelings. He was a talented actor. He was so talented that he could have led the next generation of actors.\u201dCine Critic Surya Deo said, \u201cI had a personal relationship with Pintu Nanda. With the death of Pintu, a void has been created in the Odia film industry. His realistic acting will no longer be seen on silver screen. We all are shocked.\u201d
\nPintu Nanda started his career through Doordarshan serial. He made his debut in Ollywood through film \u2018Koili\u2019 in 1996. Then there was no looking back for this versatile actor. Be it a comic character, or a villain, he delivered his best. He was awarded as the best comic actor for \u2018Wrong Number\u2019 film. He also did numerous albums with ‘E Goura\u2019 being the most famous one.
