Shangluo<\/strong>: At least 11 people died and over 30 others were missing after a bridge in northern China collapsed amid torrential rains on Friday.<\/p>\n According to a Xinhua news agency report, a bridge over a river in Shaanxi province\u2019s Shangluo collapsed around 8:40 pm local time due to sudden downpours and flash floods.<\/p>\n CCTV reported that approximately 20 vehicles and over 30 people were missing following the collapse. So far, all 11 confirmed fatalities were discovered inside five vehicles retrieved from the water.<\/p>\n This event follows a southern China highway collapse caused by days of rain, resulting in 48 fatalities. Since Tuesday, extensive areas of northern and central China have suffered from rain-induced flooding and considerable damage.<\/p>\n State media disclosed that at least five individuals perished and eight were missing due to flooding and mudslides in Shaanxi\u2019s Baoji city. Published images depict neighbourhoods inundated with muddy waters, with both excavators and residents striving to mitigate the damage.<\/p>\n Gansu, a semi-desert province adjacent to Shaanxi and Henan, also experienced significant rainfall this week.
