Washington: Donald Trump has blasted president Joe Biden\u2019s White House speech, calling it \u201cbarely understandable.\u201d Taking to Truth Social, the former president wrote, \u201cCrooked Joe Biden\u2019s Oval Office speech was barely understandable, and sooo bad!\u201d<\/p>\n
In another post later, he wrote, \u201cCROOKED JOE BIDEN AND LYIN\u2019 KAMALA HARRIS ARE A GREAT EMBARRASSMENT TO AMERICA \u2014 THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME LIKE THIS!\u201d<\/p>\n
On Wednesday night, July 24, Biden addressed the nation about his sudden decision to drop out of the race. The president ended his candidacy days after his disastrous debate performance against Trump. Although Biden had initially refused to drop out and had reportedly even vowed to appear for a second debate against Trump, he seemed to abruptly change his decision. He went on to endorse vice president Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n
\u201cI revere this office, but I love my country more,\u201d the president, 81, said in a primetime address from the Oval Office. \u201cIt\u2019s been the honor of my life to serve as your president, but the defense of democracy \u2013 which is at stake \u2013 I think is more important than any title.\u201d<\/p>\n
Biden added that when he was elected, he \u201cpromised to always level with you, to tell you the truth.\u201d \u201cIn recent weeks, it\u2019s become clear to me I need to unite my party \u2026 but nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy \u2013 and that includes personal ambition,\u201d Biden said. \u201cSo I\u2019ve decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That\u2019s the best way to unite our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following the speech, Biden\u2019s wife, Jill Biden, posted a message of support on X. \u201cTo those who never wavered, to those who refused to doubt, to those who always believed, my heart is full of gratitude,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThank you for the trust you put in Joe\u2014now it\u2019s time to put that trust in Kamala.\u201d<\/p>\n
