New Delhi:<\/strong> India called upon Canada to take action against anti-India elements operating within its borders, who have repeatedly threatened Indian leaders, institutions, airlines, and diplomats with violence.<\/p>\n This call comes in the wake of recent charges against two individuals in Canada for threatening Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other leaders on social media.<\/p>\n Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted what India perceives as a double standard in Canada\u2019s approach to handling threats. \u201cWhen a democracy adopts different yardsticks to measure or implement the rule of law and freedom of expression, it only exposes its own double standards,\u201d Jaiswal stated.<\/p>\n The Indian government expects Canada to apply the same level of stringent action against threats posed to Indian interests as it does for threats against its own leaders. \u201cWe expect Canada to take action against anti-India elements who have repeatedly threatened Indian leaders, institutions, airlines and diplomats by violence. We would like to see strong action, same level of action on the threats posed to us,\u201d Jaiswal added.<\/p>\n The BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Edmonton was recently vandalized.
