Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has provided substantial financial support to electric vehicle (EV) owners, amounting to over Rs 154 crore in subsidies since the 2022-23 financial year. This initiative, led by Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, aims to promote the adoption of EVs across the state.<\/p>\n
Since the subsidy program began in September 2021, there has been a notable increase in EV registrations. In the fiscal year 2022-23, the government disbursed Rs 8.83 crore in subsidies, which significantly rose to Rs 57.21 crore in 2023-24. As of August 2024, subsidies have already been distributed for 38,766 EVs registered in the state.<\/p>\n
The subsidy scheme offers up to Rs 20,000 for two-wheelers and Rs 30,000 for three-wheelers, encouraging more residents to switch to environmentally friendly transportation options12.<\/p>\n
This initiative reflects Odisha\u2019s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable development through the promotion of electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
