Kolkata: Accusing Mamata Banerjee of \u2018lying\u2019 that parents of the Kolkata rape-murder victim were \u2018never offered money,\u2019 the young doctor\u2019s mother asked why she would \u2018lie\u2019 in her late daughter\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe chief minister (Banerjee) is lying. My daughter is not going to return. Would I lie in her name? She (the CM) told us that we would receive money and suggested that we create something in in our daughter\u2019s memory. I responded that I would collect the money once my daughter gets justice,\u201d the mother told ANI on Monday.<\/p>\n
The doctor\u2019s cousin also refuted Banerjee\u2019s assertion, saying with \u2018full responsibility\u2019 that the Trinamool Congress supremo herself offered the financial compensation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, on the CM\u2019s appeal to people to \u2018return to festivities\u2019 as the Durga Puja nears, the doctor\u2019s mother called the request \u2018inhuman.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cDurga Puja is celebrated in my house too; my daughter used to handle it herself. But it will never be celebrated in my house again. The light in my home is out. How can I ask people to return to festival?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf such an incident happened in the chief minister\u2019s family, would she have said this?\u201d the lady asked, referring to Banerjee\u2019s Durga Puja appeal.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s mother further declared that the movement for her daughter will continue \u2018until justice is served.\u2019<\/p>\n
The second-year postgraduate medical student was allegedly raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer of the city police, is the accused.<\/p>\n
