New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile Delhi Excise Policy case on subject to bail bonds of Rs 10 lakhs.<\/p>\n
Supreme Court puts conditions on his release on bail, saying he shall not make any public comments about this case and that he shall be present for all hearings before the trial court unless exempted.<\/p>\n
This decision comes as a major relief for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its supporters.<\/p>\n
A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan had heard the case and reserved it for judgment on September 5. The cause list uploaded on the Supreme Court\u2019s website shows that Justices Kant and Bhuyan are set to deliver two separate verdicts.<\/p>\n
Justice Bhuyan underscored that the CBI, as the country\u2019s foremost investigative agency, must be perceived as acting with the highest integrity. He stresses that, especially in a democracy, arrests should not be conducted in an arbitrary or heavy-handed manner. To enhance its credibility, the CBI must actively shed the perception of being a \u201ccaged parrot\u201d and instead be seen as an \u201cuncaged parrot,\u201d operating with full independence and transparency.<\/p>\n
