Bhubaneswar<\/strong>: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested the Deputy Executive Engineer (DEE) of Lift Irrigation in Angul while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a Contractor to release of withheld amount of civil cost.<\/p>\n According to Vigilance, Sarat Kumar Pradhan, Dy. Executive Engineer (DEE), Lift Irrigation (LI), Angul was apprehended for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a complainant (Contractor) to handover electrical estimate of two projects, of which civil work has already been completed by the complainant and for release of a withheld amount of civil cost in his favour.<\/p>\n Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 11.08.2023, wherein the accused Dy. EE Sarat Kumar Pradhan was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant.<\/p>\n The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Dy. EE Pradhan and seized in the presence of witnesses. The right-hand wash of Dy. EE Pradhan gave a positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.<\/p>\n Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Dy. EE Pradhan at village Remuan, PS-Talcher, Dist-Angul and his office room. Accused Dy. EE Sarat Kumar Pradhan, Dy.
