When venturing into film-making and acting careers which are by nature uncertain, it is better for aspiring filmmakers\u00a0to\u00a0keep back-up career options ready, said national\u00a0award-winning actor\u00a0Kriti Sanon\u00a0today.<\/p>\n

She further added that her film\u00a0\u2018Mimi\u2019\u00a0was the boldest choice that\u00a0she had\u00a0made in her acting career so far and that, that risk paid off well when she won the National Award for Best Actor (female) for that movie.<\/p>\n

She was speaking in a Panel discussion on the topic of\u00a0\u2018Empowering Change: Women Leading the Way in Cinema\u2019\u00a0at Kala Academy, in Goa today. The\u00a0\u2018In-conversation\u2019\u00a0session was organized on the sidelines of IFFI, 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was advised against selecting this film (Mimi) by many people. They were afraid that I will be given the label of an actor who prefers art\u00a0house\u00a0films and it hat it would affect the other projects coming my way. Still, I chose it because the script touched my heart. And this factor should matter most while choosing projects\u201d, Ms. Sanon opined.\u00a0 She also expressed her desire to play a superwoman character and\u00a0any character in a\u00a0negative role\u00a0in the future.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\/Kriti said she\u00a0considers her role in the movie\u00a0\u2018Do Patti\u2019 as\u00a0layered and\u00a0nuanced and also described the subject of domestic violence as something which touches her heart. Speaking about her role in the movie \u201cTeri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya\u201d actor expressed how it was difficult to play role of a perfectly straight-faced robot and how that\u00a0role was\u00a0well\u00a0received.<\/p>\n

While commenting about negative characters and roles being played by women in recent films, Ms. Sanon said that audience do like and connect well with grey characters and that the \u2018male gaze\u2019 is undergoing change nowadays, with lesser demand for\u00a0the \u2018perfect\u2019\u00a0girl\u00a0or\u00a0woman.<\/p>\n

Ms. Kriti had great admiration\u00a0for the new\u00a0crop of female writers that gained entry into the industry through OTT platforms.\u00a0She added that OTT platforms are giving\u00a0female filmmakers better\u00a0reach in hundreds of countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen\u00a0should grow and work on themselves; they should give their hundred percent, stay\u00a0curious\u00a0and ask questions,\u201d concluded the actor.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
