Major Cattle Smuggling Racket Busted Police, 31 Arrested from Angul

Angul: According to police, late-night on Wednesday Banarpal Police conducted a raid near Talmul and detained the convoy of 12 Pick Up vehicles loaded with cattle in ‘miserable condition’. The convoy was being escorted by a car.

The accused used to purchase the cattle from Narasinghpur, Athagarh and Hindol area and were transporting them towards Chamunda market in Keonjhar, the police added.

During the raid, the accused attempted to run over the police personnel who escaped narrowly from being hurt. The arrestees have been booked under relevant Sections of the IPC, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Odisha Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
