Khordha: A class-10 student was found hanging from a tree on the premises of Seventh-Day Adventist Higher Secondary School in Odisha’s Khordha district, today.

The deceased hailed from Gajapati district and was staying in the hostel of the residential school.

Though the reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that he took the extreme step of dying by suicide as the principal of the school had last night taken away a mobile phone from the possession of the student, reports said.

Worth mentioning, usage of mobile phones by the hostel inmates has been prohibited by the school authorities while the student had allegedly kept a mobile phone with him.

On being informed about the death, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

“Probe is currently underway. We are looking into all possible angles regarding the reason of the death. The student’s family members have been informed about the incident,” a police official said.
