New Delhi: Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and has invited the Indian team to bat first.

After 45 days and 47 matches, the ICC World Cup 2023, will finally come to its conclusion on Sunday when the hosts India will take on the Australian team in the tournament finals at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The men in blue, who are looking to end their decade-long ICC trophy hunt by winning their World Cup title, will be featuring in their fourth final.

Meanwhile, the Aussies, who will be looking to win their record-extending sixth World Cup title, will be playing their eighth final.

The Rohit Sharma-led team India are going to be the favourites leading into the match, as all their top 5 batsmen have scored more than 300 runs, with Virat Kohli (711 runs) leading the charts of the highest run scorer of the tournament.

In bowling, every Indian bowler has more than 13 wickets, with Md. Shami is leading the golden ball charts with 23 wickets under his name, while Bumrah is also in contention with 18 wickets of his own.

On the other hand, the Australian team, after having their worst World Cup start after 1992, won eight matches in a row to make their way into the finals.

In batting, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are providing them with a crucial start, while Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschange are taking care of the middle order.

In bowling, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazelwood have been consistent, while Starc and Cummins returning into form just before the finals have made the Aussies bowling attack even more dangerous.

The two teams have previously met 13 times in World Cup history, where the Aussies have the 8 to 5 lead over the men in blue, the most famous one being their 2003 World Cup finals victory.

The men in blue, who already took the 2019 World Cup revenge from New Zealand, will now be looking to take 2003 World Cup revenge against the Aussies and lift the World Cup in front of their home crowd and give the 1.4 billion Indians a reason to celebrate one more World Cup victory after a long wait of 12 years.
