Murder mystery of local BJD leader cracked in Odisha’s Kandhamal; accused woman held – N.F Times

Phulbani: Police claimed to have cracked the murder mystery of Kandhamal district BJD youth wing vice-president and Dadaki sarpanch’s son Sanjit Kumar Mallick. He was asphyxiated to death by a married woman over an illicit affair, Sadar SDPO Suprasanna Mallick said in a presser held today.

The woman was arrested from Kanagada Sahi in the district and was forwarded to court earlier in the day. Sanjit aka Pappu was killed on the night of November 30, the SDPO said mediapersons.

Sadar police were informed on December 1 morning that a body was found at PEO’s residence. The youth was identified as Sanjit by his family. However, the family had alleged that he was killed by somebody. A probe was initiated based on circumstantial evidence and a post-mortem report.

“During the investigation, it was ascertained that Sanjit had an illicit relationship with a woman. Often, he was keeping physical relationships with the woman against her sweet will. He had taken some money from the accused and was not refunding the same, for which the woman was unhappy,” the SDPO stated.

“As Sanjit was threatening the woman to blame her, she decided to eliminate him forever. Accordingly, she asked Sanjit to come to the PEO’s residence and had a physical relationship with him on the intervening night. Later, she asphyxiated him as he was in an inebriated condition,” the SDPO added.

Notably, the married woman has confessed to her crime during the probe, the SDPO expressed.
