Nayagarh: At least one person died while five others suffered critical injuries after a picnic van collided with a parked truck in Dasapalla in Odisha’s Nayagarh district here today. The deceased was identified as Trilochan Rout of Athagarh.
As per reports, nearly 15-16 youths were returning after a picnic from Daringbadi in Kandhamal district and were heading towards Athargarh when the van hit the truck from behind at around 5 am on NH 57 near Takera Square in Dasapalla.
It is suspected the driver lost control due to poor visibility. While one person was crushed to death in the collision, five others suffered serious injuries. Fire services, on getting information, reached the spot and started rescue operations.
The injured were immediately rushed to Dasapalla hospital. Official sources said one of them was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical state.
Meanwhile, Police have seized the body for postmortem and started investigation.
