Bhubaneswar: Dr. Manorama Mohanty was appointed the new Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, replacing HR Biswas.
Dr. Mohanty presently serves as the Head of the Meteorological Center of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad.
HR Biswas, the outgoing Director of the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, has been transferred to IMD, Kolkata.
Hailing from Odisha, Dr Mohanty joined the India Meteorological Department after completing her master’s degree in Physics from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. She is credited for accurate forecasts of the powerful cyclones ‘Tauktae’ and ‘Biparjoy’ formed over the Arabian Sea.
