Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today virtually inaugurated at least 20 newly-constructed bus stands under the ambitious ‘Ama Bus Stand’ yojana in 13 districts of Odisha.
The districts where bus stands were inaugurated include Angul, Balasore, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Koraput, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Subarnapur.
“Improved road connectivity is the cornerstone of development and strength of our economy. Besides, widespread awareness is needed to make extensive use of the public transport system. A bus stand plays a vital role in creating the identity of a town or city,” the CM said on this occasion.
“These new bus stands are very much our own properties and we all should take care of them,” 5T Chairman appealed.
An official source said that the State government has plans to construct bus stands in each block to boost rural infrastructure. The new bus stands will not only provide better public transport but also help raise people’s socio-economic condition by generating employment and business opportunities.
