Bhubaneswar: Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) will cooperate in the conduct of this year’s Matriculation examinations. However, a token protest is to continue as before, the OSSTA secretary Ranjan Kumar Das informed mediapersons today after a discussion with department officials.
According to the official source, the ongoing day and night agitation of Secondary School teachers at Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar has reached its 13th day. As the matriculation exams are to begin tomorrow, the outfit discussed with the State government earlier in the day about its demands and it was fruitful.
“The agitation will continue till we receive a notification in this regard,” secretary Das said.
OSSTA is to hold agitations at the district level in the days ahead, in case its demands are not met.
A 13-point charter of demands of the outfit include pension to retiring teachers in conformity with 7th Pay Commission recommendations, government aid to non-aided schools, and salary to teachers of 625 (226 Group and 399 Group) high schools coming under GIA-2018, the OSSTA secretary added.
