Puri: On the sacred day of Ekadasi, Lord Jagannath, with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra, will be adorned with intricate gold ornaments on their chariots at Singhadwar.

The temple’s schedule indicates that the priests will begin the day’s rituals at 6 am with Mangal Arati, Mailum, Tadap Lagi, Abakash, Surya Puja, and Rosa Homa. This will be followed by adorning the deities in fresh attire. The Gopal Bhog will then be presented to the deities. Post the Sakal Dhupa, three groups of dressers will initiate the adorning of the deities with gold ornaments at 5 pm, which is anticipated to conclude within an hour.

Under stringent security, the Bhandar Mekap will procure the designated ornaments for the Trinity from the Bahar Ratna Bhandar. These ornaments encompass grand tiaras, limb coverings, foot ornaments, hand palm decorations, earrings, and emblems like the chakra, mace, conch, lotus, and the golden plough, as well as numerous garlands and chitas encrusted with precious stones.

Subsequently, the Bhandar Mekap will pass these ornaments to the dressers on the three chariots. The adorning ritual will proceed concurrently for all three deities, aiming to finish the besha by 6 pm following the temple timetable.

Devotees will be allowed Darshan until late at night, after which the servitors will meticulously remove the gold ornaments.
