Vigilance Nabs Assistant Executive Engineer for Taking Rs 50K Bribe – N.F Times

Bolangir: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested an Assistant Executive Engineer in Bolangir district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

The accused has been identified as Sujeet Kumar Padhy, (AEE), Patnagarh RW Sub-division, Dist- Bolangir.

Padhy has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 as the final instalment of the overall demand of Rs 1 Lakh from a Contractor (Complainant) for facilitating the release of his final bill towards a government construction project executed by him.

Padhy had demanded a Rs 1 Lakh bribe and was not clearing the bills despite the completion of the project. Finding no other alternative, the complainant paid Rs 50,000 in two instalments a few days back and requested clearance of bills. However, Padhy demanded the rest amount of the bribe of Rs 50,000.

The complainant reported the demand and harassment to Vigilance Authority, following which Padhy was nabbed today while accepting the last instalment of a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The bribe money has been recovered from the accused Padhy and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Padhy from the DA angle.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 17 dt.23.07.2024 U/s 7 P. C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused.
