Kyiv: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stated that India has not remained “neutral or an indifferent bystander” during the Russia-Ukraine war, affirming its stance in favour of peace.
In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Modi emphasized that the resolution of the conflict is possible only through dialogue and diplomacy, and mentioned India’s readiness to actively contribute to peace efforts, as reported by Reuters.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar later shared insights from the bilateral talks, noting that the discussions were primarily focused on the war in Ukraine. Jaishankar highlighted Modi’s call for “practical engagement among all stakeholders to devise innovative solutions promoting peace.”
Additionally, he disclosed that Modi and Zelenskyy have directed the inter-governmental commission to concentrate on revitalizing trade and economic ties.
