Bokaro: Two wagons of a freight train derailed near Tupkadih station in Bokaro, Jharkhand, significantly disrupting rail traffic, an official reported on Thursday.
The derailment happened around 9 p.m. on Wednesday and led to the rerouting of 15 trains, including 14 express services.
The freight train, carrying a steel shipment from the Bokaro Steel Plant, experienced the overturning of two wagons on the main track between Tupkadih and Bokaro stations. Sumit Narula, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Adra division of South Eastern Railway, confirmed the incident, stating, “Two wagons loaded with steel derailed near Tupkadih station around 9 p.m. last night. We have rerouted 15 trains due to the affected route.”
The derailment took place close to the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih station, affecting the train services on the Bokaro-Gomo section. One line has been restored, and work is in progress to fix the other line to resume regular train operations, added Narula.
