PM Modi Concludes Historic Three-Nation Visit of Nigeria, Brazil & Guyana – N.F Times

Georgetown: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned home after concluding his “warm and productive” visit to Guyana, where he co-chaired the India-Caribbean Community Summit, engaged in bilateral discussions, and met with the Indian diaspora.

This visit was the final part of his five-day, three-nation tour, which included stops in Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced his departure from Guyana on Thursday with a message on X, stating, “A very warm & productive State visit to Guyana concludes. PM @narendramodi departs for New Delhi.” The Prime Minister arrived in Nigeria on Sunday, the first visit by an Indian premier to the West African nation in 17 years.

In Nigeria, he conducted bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and engaged with the local Indian community.

He was honoured with Nigeria’s national award, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), becoming the second international figure to be so distinguished.

Following Nigeria, Modi attended the G20 Summit in Brazil, where he interacted with global leaders such as US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, among others.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister visited Guyana, the first such visit by an Indian head of state to the Caribbean country in over half a century.

He led the second India-CARICOM Summit, which saw participation from Caribbean partner country leaders.

During his time in Guyana, Modi received the nation’s highest honour, ‘The Order of Excellence,’ from President Irfaan Ali.

He also delivered an address at a Special Session of the Parliament of Guyana and later spoke at a local community event.
