Jajpur :The seventh general meeting of the Jajpur Sixth Zilla Parishad was held on Wednesday at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall under the chairmanship of President Smt. Nalini Prabha Jena. The President welcomed all dignitaries, including Members of Parliament, MLAs, the District Collector, Zilla Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti chairpersons, officials and media representatives.
Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Sulta Deo, Barchana MLA Sri Amar Nayak, Jajpur MLA Smt. Sujata Sahoo, Dharmasala MLA Sri Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, Bari MLA Sri Biswaranjan Mallik, District Collector Sri Ambar Kumar Kar, Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairman Sri Ganeshwar Baral, and senior officials attended the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed.Dr. Behera raised concerns over inadequate classrooms in several schools and advised the District Education Officer to prepare a consolidated report for submission to the government. He also stressed improving infrastructure at Mahatab and Ahiyas High Schools.
Barchana MLA Sri Amar Nayak called for timely completion of the Barchana–Darpani road and recommended early preparation of DPRs for the Krushnadaspur–Ratnagiri and Lalitgiri–Ratnagiri routes. He instructed the Water Supply Department to complete all drinking water projects before the summer.
Jajpur MLA Smt. Sujata Sahoo urged immediate completion of drinking water projects in Dasarathpur and Mangalpur blocks.
The Works Department and the Rural Development Department were directed to complete road works and carry out necessary repairs in different parts of the district.
Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Sulta Deo urged the Zilla Parishad to accord priority to agricultural issues, including fertiliser and seed supply and the establishment of cold storage facilities.
District Collector Sri Ambar Kumar Kar instructed officials to restructure Zilla Parishad committees and prepare a block-wise list of schools facing classroom shortages. He also directed the health department to complete ongoing construction works at various Community Health Centres within the stipulated timeframe.
The meeting reviewed key sectors such as rural roads and buildings, rural development, drinking water supply, school education, mass education and health programmes including Janani Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, Ayushman Bharat, blindness eradication, TB elimination and leprosy control.
Chief Development and Executive Officer Sri Debi Prasad Mohanty conducted the proceedings. Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairman Sri Ganeshwar Baral proposed the vote of thanks.
Zilla Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti chairpersons, district-level and field-level officials and media personnel were present at the meeting.
