Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in 22 Odisha districts on September 19; check details – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 22 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning for next two days and Orange Warning for another two days thereafter.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre said, “The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Daltonganj, Digha and thence southeast to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation over Eastcentral and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal now lies over Northeast and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood during next 48 hours.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha. Highest maximum temperature of 35.2oC was recorded at Baripada and the lowest minimum temperature of 23.0oC was recorded at Angul and Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.

For Tuesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.09.2023)

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Sundargarh and Deogarh.
