Bhubaneswar: Who is ‘Shraddha’ and why bringing up her name has perturbed the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members, questioned the Odisha unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeking a reply from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on it.
“Who is this Shradhha and why is the BJD government in Odisha showing so much Shradhha (affection) towards her? The 4.5 crore Odia people are eager to know details in this regard,” said BJP leader and Kalahandi MP Basanta Kumar Panda at a presser here today.
Panda further asked the BJD government to explain why Shraddha accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to Vatican City, a year ago.
“How did the Chief Minister come in contact with this non-Odia woman? Why did the Chief Minister take her to Vatican City? What was her responsibility during the trip and who had paid for her flight tickets? The BJD government should reveal details in this regard to the people of Odisha,” Panda, the former state unit BJP president, said.
The Kalahandi MP also claimed that the BJD Ministers and MLAs got panicked when Leader of Opposition Jaya Narayan Mishra raised this Shraddha episode in the Odisha Assembly during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
“The BJD government under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should either come clean on this issue or tender its resignation,” Panda said.
