JLN Hospital & Research Centre of BSP Organize a CME and Workshop on Breast Imaging

Bhilai : Department of Radio diagnosis of Jawaharlal Nehru Health & Research Centre of Bhilai Steel Plant Organize a CME (Continuing Medical Education) and Workshop on Breast Imaging on 4th September 2022. Breast Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in women in India and accounts for approximately 25% of all newly diagnosed Cancer. WHO reports 65% of patients in India present with stage Ill or IV disease, thereby restricting the treatment options. The primary reason for this is lack of awareness and screening program as well as trained manpower. The CME and workshop highlighted the importance of early detection of breast cancer and follow up after treatment. Above 40 year age every women should have once in a year Mammography for early detection of breast Cancer. If a family history of breast cancer is there it has to be performed much earlier.
Dr. J.P. Meshram, CHMO Durg, graced the event as the chief guest and emphasis the importance of such continuing medical education program with the vision of organizing more such activities for the benefits of doctors as well as patients. This CME was possible under the continuous guidance of DR. M Ravindranath (CMO I/c JLNHRC) and Dr. Pramod Binayake (CMO JLNHRC). Dr. Bagyam Raghavan (President, Breast Imaging Society of India), Dr. Bijal Jhankaria , Dr. Rashmi Sudhir, Dr. M Ravindranath and Dr. Pratibha Issar were the esteemed faculty . The various topics discussed were how to report breast cases in Mammography, Ultrasound and MRI along with breast pathology .Recent advances in breast imaging ie. 3D Tomosynthesis and Contrast Enhanced Mammography were also discussed.
Dr. Pratibha Issar HOD- Department of Radio diagnosis JLNHRC has created this CME and workshop which includes hands on training on Breast Biopsy along with the help of departmental colleague Dr. Rajeev Pal, Dr. Dhiraj Gupta and all staff of Radio diagnosis.
