Rourkela : To curb the menace of dengue and other mosquito borne diseases in the city an intensive fogging operation was launched by Public Health Unit of Town Engineering Department of SAIL, RSP on 1st October. Dr. Deepa Lavangare, Deputy CMO initiated the programme at the Public Health Department premises in Sector – 5 and flagged off the fogging vehicles. Present on the occasion were other Officers and Staff of Public Health Department.
It is worth mentioning here that the Public Health Unit conducts fogging operation in the steel township every year to control adult mosquito population. This preventive measure aims at eliminating mosquito borne diseases such as Dengue, Chickunguniya and Malaria. Four vehicles are deployed for the purpose which will be operational in different sectors including slums as per schedule. The programme was coordinated by Public Health Department Team.
