Rourkela : A two-day programme on Self Defence ‘DURGA- Defend Yourself for Greater Advantage,’ for the women employees of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was held on 10th and 11th January 2023. Mr. H Pati, GM (HRD) inaugurated the programme organized at HRD Centre. Present on the occasion were other Officials of the Plant. Many lady employees including executives participated in the session.
The highlight of the programme was the demonstration of different martial art techniques for self defense in different situations such as : safeguarding from eve teasing, molestation and attempted kidnapping while commuting in public transport, unforeseen incidents on the road or at the workplace. Mr. Rajib Kumar Singh, Utkal Karate School, Rourkela, was the Chief Instructor.
The different self defense techniques taught during the sessions were punches, kicks, stances and blocks. The session concluded with demonstration of practical application of the techniques by the participants. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Arnnapurna Behera Manager (HRD) with the support of Mr. B K atra, Senior Instructor (CPTI).
