Rourkela : Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) observed the 74th Republic Day of India amidst patriotic fervour. More than 2000 students and employees of RSP took part in the celebrations that was witnessed by thousands of Rourkelites.
Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, DIC, RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past to the tune of Delhi Public School Band by 58 contingents. Scouts, Guides, Combat and Civilian troupes from various educational institutions of the City, troupes from CISF including RSP’s Fire Services, Nurses Training Institute and SAIL Hockey Academy added colour to the splendid march past.
Extending his heartiest greetings and good wishes to each and every Rourkelite on the occasion, the DIC said “With our nation celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we have entered the Amrit Kaal and we, at Rourkela Steel Plant, can also hold our heads high having contributed our bit for taking our great Nation to unprecedented heights.” The DIC congratulated each and every employee of RSP and all other stakeholders for the outstanding achievements in calendar year 2022 which saw strings of records, new benchmarks and newer products enriching the product basket
Highlighted some of the major priority areas like Safety, Housekeeping and Environment for producing accident free and green steel, Mr. Bhowmick elaborated about the special campaign under Project Nishchay and massive plantation drive of RSP. Stating Human Resource as an enviable asset , the DIC urged al to reinforce the sense of employee pride to become the brand ambassador of the Annsdatri, that is Rourkela Steel Plant.
In the view of the turbulence in the steel market, the global slowdown and the international geo-political environment, let’s hoist the flag of our capabilities and prowess and demonstrate to the rest of the world that we are second to none in fulfilling our commitment to our Plant and our Motherland,” said Mr. Bhowmick in his concluding remark.
The DIC also presented Ati utkrishtha and Utkrishtha awards to CISF Personnel, Jawahar Awards, RSP Gaurab Awards and the best performing contingents award on this occasion.
A similar function was held at Sector-22 Mini Stadium, in which Mr. Bhowmick unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at the colourful march past presented by the 50 contingents. He also presented awards to the best contingents of the Republic Day parade. The DIC also declared special award of Rs. 10,000/- for St. John’s School for the beautiful presentation by the students in the March past and also a special award for the band of Ispat English Medium School.
Present on both the occasions were Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), Mr. P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), Mr. Somnath Tripathy, ED (MM), Dr. B K Hota, ED (M&HS), and other senior officers of RSP and a large number of spectators.
