Odisha: Shopkeeper sells expired lassi to cops; held – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: A shopkeeper in Odisha’s Rourkela city was arrested for selling expired lassi of a popular dairy product brand to police.

Udit Nagar police in the Steel City also seized several tetra packs of the expired lassi from the shop of arrested Vinay Agrawal, sources said.

The police had purchased around 40 tetra packs of lassi from Agrawal’s shop for distributing the same among participants and media persons during a press conference at the office of Rourkela SP today, sources said.

Some media persons, however, found that the lassi packs have already crossed their expiry dates. They informed the incident to Rourkela SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, sources added.

Udit Nagar police arrested the shopkeeper as per the direction of the SP. On being informed, a team of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) led by its Food Inspector Swagatika Behera raided Agrawal’s shop and sent samples of the expired lassi for laboratory examination, sources said.
