Injured elephant dies during treatment in forest in Odisha’s Nayagarh – N.F Times



Nayagarh: An injured elephant which was undergoing treatment in Ranpur Forest Range of Odisha’s Nayagarh district died, this morning.

The tusker had sustained injuries on its leg, suspectedly caused by bullet fired by a poacher.

A dedicated veterinary team from Nandankanan Zoological Park had been treating the injured pachyderm.

Unfortunately, the elephant developed an infection in the aftermath of the injuries, leading to its demise.

Locals had initially spotted the tusker in an injured state on Saturday and informed the Forest Department.

Earlier, allegations had surfaced suggesting that the department took no immediate action despite being informed about the injured elephant.
