Sports Science India (SSI) to host 1st edition of ‘Sports Pro— SSI Inter-School Quiz’ on Jan 13 – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: In a bid to revive the quizzing culture in Odisha, Sports Science India—eastern India’s first-of-its-kind sports science centre—will organize the maiden edition of ‘Sports Pro— SSI Inter-School Quiz’ in association with Odisha Quiz Association at Engineers Bhawan here on January 13.

As many as 20 teams, comprising two members each, from different schools across Odisha will compete in two rounds—written and viva—to win the cash prizes. While the winning team will be awarded with cash prize of Rs 15,000, the first runner’s up and the second runner’s up will be given Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

The quiz will be inaugurated by Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Government of Odisha, Shubha Sarma. To add a touch of brilliance to this already exciting endeavour, the show will be hosted by Quiz Master Kamal Rathi, who is known to have enthralled audiences with his quick wit and profound sports insights at several events across Odisha.

Questions will be based on legends from various sports, their contributions, achievements, use of new technology in sports, start-ups, sports awards and their recipients, important sports events, sports science and injury prevention, among other topics from the sporting world. There will be questions for the audience as well. With each correct answer, one will be rewarded with a token of appreciation in the audience.

“It will be more than a quiz show. It is a celebration of sports and the passion that unites the entire country. It is a platform for young minds to showcase their knowledge and skills and to inspire the next generation of sports enthusiasts. The sports entertainment canvas is constantly changing. So, we will try our best to revive the golden era of quizzing, amalgamated with modern-day content,” said SSI founder, Dr Sarthak Patnaik, Arthroscopic and Sports Surgeon, adding let friendly rivalry take over and children be encouraged to aspire to become the next quiz champions.
