Couple in love allegedly dies by suicide in Odisha’s Koraput; probe initiated – N.F Times

Dasamantapur: A couple was found dead today and their bodies were spotted while hanging from a tree near Jodipai village of Chanabada panchayat under Dasamantapur police limits in Koraput.

The deceased boy was identified as Mahindra Hikaka and the girl as Jubanti Muska from the village.

According to a police source, the lover duo was found under mysterious circumstances in the morning by some locals, while the duo was hanging with the help of a Dupatta of the girl from a tamarind tree at a mango orchard in the district.

On being informed about this, Dasamantapur police reached the spot and recovered the two bodies. Police have sent the mortal remains and launched a probe into the deaths, which is underway.

“They (Mahindra and Jubanti) were in love with each other for nearly the last two years. However, the family of the boy had been opposing this leading to their death,” the girl’s elder sister Nandini stated.

“I do not know anything as to why they (the couple) died. I even did not know if they were in love. Since they have died, I will inform the local police about it and cremate the bodies. I do not suspect anyone to have killed them,” the boy’s father Madhu Hikaka expressed.

“The couple had previously eloped thrice but was not allowed to enter into the boy’s house. His parents were opposed to accepting the girl. Hence, they ended life, the girl’s mother Dula said.

“The exact reason behind the deaths has not been ascertained yet, a senior cop informed.
