12 Odisha varsities have no ombudsperson. Here’s the list – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 universities in Odisha were featured in the defaulting universities’ list of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for not appointing an ombudsperson as per its guidelines.

The Utkal University, BPUT, VIMSAR, and XIM University are among the premier educational institutions in Odisha that are yet to have an ombudsperson.

Total of 419 universities (254 state universities, 1 central university, 162 state private universities and 2 deemed universities) have been categorised as defaulting universities, which have not appointed Ombudsperson(s) as provided in the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023.

The UGC in this regard has issued a public notice requesting the universities to appoint Ombudsperson(s) within 30 days of the notification of the Regulations.

Earlier, the UGC had directed the universities for appointment of Ombudsperson(s) and implement other provisions of UGC Regulations by 31 December 2023.

Here’s the list of Universities in Odisha that are yet to appoint the Ombudsperson(s).

4. Odisha University of Health Sciences, Bhubaneswar

6. Orissa University Of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar
7. Rajendra University, Balangir
8. Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Puri
9. Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar
10. Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar
11, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, Sambalpur
12. XIM University (Formerly Xavier University), Bhubaneswar
