Air Quality Index: Odisha’s Angul most polluted town in India – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Angul town was declared as the most polluted urban area in the country by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in its Air Quality Index (AQI) today.

The air quality in Angul was categorised as ‘very poor’ with an AQI value of 305 at 4 pm today.

Angul is the only urban area in the country whose air quality was declared as ‘very poor’ by the CPCB in the AQI today.

As per the today’s AQI data, the air quality in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata was much better than Angul.

The air quality in Delhi and Mumbai was categorised as ‘moderate’ with AQI value of 161 and 131 respectively.

The air quality in Chennai was categorised as ‘satisfactory’ with AQI value of 93 while the same in Kolkata was declared as ‘moderate’ with AQI value of 111 by the CPCB.

According to experts, prolonged exposure to very poor quality air may cause respiratory illness among the residents.
