Odisha docs successfully remove needle from youth’s heart – N.F Times



Cuttack: Doctors at the SCB Medical College and Hospital successfully removed a needle from the heart of a man here in Odisha.

The condition of patient Nibash Sharma, a resident of the VSS Nagar area in Bhubaneswar, is stated to be stable following the surgery.

According to reports, the 31-year-old man’s chest was pierced with a needle while he was sleeping at his home. The needle got stuck in the left side of his heart leading to severe pain.

Unable to bear the pain in the heart, Nibash visited the Capital Hospital and Bhubaneswar AIIMS where the surgery could not be conducted. Later, he went to the SCB Medical and Hospital in Cuttack for the surgery.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after diagnosis. He underwent surgery on Sunday.

A team of doctors led by Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Department HOD Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Pattnaik conducted the operation and successfully removed a 4.5-inch-long needle from the patient’s heart.
