Combing operation: Maoist camp bust in Durgapanga reserve forest in Odisha’s Kandhamal – N.F Times

Kotagarh: A Maoist dump was unearthed today by a team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans following a combing operation carried out in Durgapanga reserve forest under Kotagarh police limits in Kandhamal district. A huge cache of grenades and other explosives have been recovered.

Based on specific information received from a reliable source, the SOG team carried out an intensive search operation in the forest resulting in the uncovering of the major Maoist dump. This led to the recovery and seizure of ammunition and several other Maoist articles, a press release said.

According to the official source, an exchange of fire ensued between the SOG jawans and an ultra faction, which continued for around half an hour. However, the red rebels managed to flee from the spot.

Later, the SOG jawans unravelled seven high-end grenades, three gelatins, electric wires, solar panels, advanced blasting machines, and several other articles from the camp of outlawed CPI (Maoist) faction’s Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali (BGN) division. Around 15 hardcore ultras had camped in the reserve forest, Kandhamal SP Suvendu Kumar Patra stated while briefing mediapersons in a presser.
