CRPF jawan’s family donates his organs after kidney failure in Odisha Capital – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: In a highly commendable act of humanity, the family of a CRPF jawan took a courageous decision today and donated his heart and liver after he was declared ‘dead’ by doctors at a private hospital here, following a kidney failure.

The deceased man was identified as Krushna Chandra Mahabhoi, who was a havildar.

According to a source, Krushna Chandra had been suffering from kidney-related ailments for the last two years. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The CRPF jawan’s heart is to be carried to Kolkata and liver to Mumbai through ‘green corridor’ by two special flights for transplantation.

“Organ retrieval was done today on a 48-year-old patient, who was a CRPF jawan. His lungs had little bit of complications for which we could not retrieve them. The recipient patients will hopefully lead a better life,” the hospital Critical Care Medicine HoD Banambar Ray said.

Worth mentioning, organ donation done to save the lives of others is certainly a noble cause. The sacrifice and courage of such people are being recognized these days. Organ donors’ last rites are being performed with full State Honors as a token of recognition.
