Basta: A man and his were killed and the elderly man’s wife sustained grievous injuries as a wall caved in on them today at Paschimabada village of Jaleswar block in Balasore district.
The deceased man was identified as Sameer-ud-din and his son was identified as 25-year-old Arif. The elderly man’s wife has been identified as Ashna Biwi.
According to a source, the father-son duo died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
The three family members were gathering stone chips from a road in front of their house to use for construction purposes, when the fatal mishap occurred. A wall of one Ameen-ud-din’s house collapsed on them leading to two deaths. The trio got trapped under the wall.
Some locals rescued the trio and rushed them to a hospital in critical condition. However, the man and his son were declared ‘dead’ by doctors treating them in the health facility.
Later, Arif’s mother was shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore after her condition deteriorated.
