BRICS Games: Over 90 Nations Intent to Participate – N.F Times


New Delhi: The forthcoming BRICS Games in Kazan of Russia are set to welcome over 4,000 athletes from 97 countries, as revealed by Deputy PM Dmitry Chernyshenko, Sports following an organizing committee meeting.

The official stated, “Under the direction of President Vladimir Putin, the BRICS Games are a crucial part of our nation’s presidency agenda within the association, with participation confirmed by 97 countries.”

In addition, Russia has put forward the BRICS Kazan Sports Charter to its partners. This document outlines the goals, principles, and mechanisms of sports cooperation within BRICS, as well as guidelines for the association’s rotating chair country to host the games, according to TV BRICS.

A meeting of BRICS sports ministers is planned for June 22, with representatives from China, UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, India, South Africa, and Brazil expected to attend. Russian Deputy Sports Minister Alexey Morozov indicated that the BRICS Games are likely to attract around 4,000 foreign participants.

Morozov stated, “We expect approximately 5,000 participants, of which over 4,000 will be from overseas. The sports program, which includes 27 sports, has been finalized by the Russian Sports Ministry on behalf of the organizing committee, taking into account the applications received.”

The BRICS Games are scheduled to be held in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, from June 12 to June 23. The participant list for the sports event includes more than 50 countries, such as Kazakhstan, Turkey, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bahrain, Congo, and others. According to TV BRICS, the competitions will feature 380 award sets across 29 disciplines.
