‘World Environment Day’ Celebrated At East Coast Railway – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) marked World Environment Day with fervour and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Under the dynamic leadership of General Manager Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, ECoR spearheaded various initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of sustainability and pollution control among railway employees and the wider community.

Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, the General Manager of East Coast Railway, emphasized the pivotal role of every individual in working towards a better environment and controlling pollution. He urged railway employees and their families to take proactive steps in their daily lives to contribute to environmental conservation.

The day commenced with a large-scale tree plantation program, where staff and officers, alongside senior officials and heads of departments, planted saplings across railway premises in the Chandrasekharpur area. This initiative aimed to enhance green cover and promote biodiversity within the railway ecosystem.

In addition to tree planting, various awareness activities were organized throughout the day. The morning Prabhat Pheri saw railway staff and officers engaging with the public, raising awareness through banners, posters, placards, and slogans on environmental issues. Children were actively involved in the initiative, participating in eco-friendly fancy dress presentations and encouraged to plant saplings, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility from a young age.

The commitment to environmental sustainability extended beyond Chandrasekharpur, with tree plantation programs organized in Khurda Road, Waltair, and Sambalpur Divisions. These initiatives underscored ECoR’s dedication to creating environmentally friendly railway premises and combating pollution across its operational areas.

As World Environment Day serves as a global call to action for environmental protection, ECoR remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable practices and pollution control. Through collective efforts and individual contributions, ECoR aims to create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
